Eligibility
- A minimum of five years of cumulative, full-time experience across two or more CISSP Exam Outline domains.
- A post-secondary degree in computer science, IT, or related fields can reduce the experience requirement by one year.
- Holding an additional credential from the ISC2-approved list can also substitute for up to one year of experience.
- Part-time work and internships are considered towards fulfilling the experience requirement.
- Alternatively, candidates without the required experience can become an Associate of ISC2 by passing the CISSP exam. Associates have six years to accumulate the five years of required experience.
Pre-requisites
- Must accumulate a minimum of 35 hours per week for at least four weeks to count as one month of work experience.
- Minimum of 20 hours and maximum of 34 hours per week.
- 1,040 part-time hours = 6 months of full-time experience.
- 2,080 part-time hours = 12 months of full-time experience.
- Both paid and unpaid internships qualify.
- Documentation is required on official letterhead confirming your role.
- For school internships, the confirmation should be on the registrar’s stationery.
