Eligibility

To be eligible for the Microsoft Azure Developer Associate Certification, candidates should possess at least an undergraduate degree or high school diploma. Ideally, you should have at least one year of experience developing scalable solutions across various phases of software development. What is required to earn the Azure Developer Certification?

To earn the Azure Developer Certification, you must pass the AZ-204: Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure exam. Upon passing, you will receive an official Microsoft-branded certificate via the MS Learn portal.
Note: AZ-204 is the updated version of the Microsoft Azure Developer Associate exam, previously known as AZ-203.

Does the new exam replace any existing Azure exams?

Yes, AZ-204: Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure replaces AZ-203. This change became official on February 24th, 2020.

When will the old Azure certification competencies expire, and when do the new requirements become valid?

The AZ-204 beta was launched on February 24th, 2020, with a 90-day transition period. Candidates can take the AZ-203 exam until May 31st, 2020. After that date, the old exam will be officially retired.
